The Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APC∙TP), Korea
and the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG), Germany

are seeking outstanding candidates for

A leader of Independent Junior Research Group in Theoretical Physics.

The rules for MPG Independent Junior Research Groups (JRG) apply to the
selection process. The group will be located on the campus of Pohang
University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).

We do not envisage a special research field since quality of applicants is
more important than the field they represent. However, there are special
requirements which have to be met.
The new group will strengthen the scientific in-house program of the Center.
The Center has thirteen membership countries and its goals are to organize
schools and workshops and to train outstanding young scientists to become
future scientific leaders of their fields. In order that the candidate can
be successful his/her field must have strong links to the four existing JRGs
at the Center and the leading groups in the Physics Departments at POSTECH.
Their areas of research are found under The group
leader is expected to use also the links to renown research centers in the
Asia Pacific region to which the Center has close relations. He/She will
have access to students and other researchers.

We offer this position for up to 5 years on a salary which corresponds to an
exceptional Assistant Professor. Funds are available for 1-2 postdoctoral
fellows, 1-2 guests and 1-2 PHD students for the group which shall be
recruited by the group leaders. The group is fully independent according to
the rules of the MPG. We will provide office and adequate funds for computer
access and consumables.
