The 26th AAPPS Council Meeting was held under the auspices of JPS in the Tokyo office on December 16, 2011. The council met via a video conference at 3 p.m. @Tokyo, Seoul to discuss the provisional agenda. The good news from the meeting is that New Zealand Physics Society has shown its interest in joining AAPPS. The minutes of the meeting are as follows:

Present: Shoji Nagamiya, Seunghwan Kim, Masatoshi Arai, Ching-Ray Chang, Marcus Duldig, Hiroshi Ishiwara, Leong Chuan Kwek, Gui Lu Long, Tae Won Noh, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Ling-An Wu, Sang Pyo Kim and Yoshiaki Nakano

Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the 26th AAPPS council meeting were approved as printed and distributed to the members.

Vice President's Report:
Seunghwan Kim gave a brief slide presentation about the previous council meeting held in Pohang.
Shoji Nagamiya suggested holding an event to celebrate the Light Year. He also noted that New Zealand Physics Society had shown an interest in joining AAPPS.
Sang Pyo Kim asserted that the funds remaining in the Malaysian account would be transferred to the Korean account in the near future. At present, AAPPS officially holds two respective bank accounts, one for membership fees and the other for Bulletin contributions.
ASEPS Meeting Report:
Gui Lu Long gave a detailed PowerPoint slide presentation of Asia Europe Physics Summit (ASEPS) meeting held in Wroclaw, Poland. He mentioned that the participants found it incumbent upon themselves to reconsider whether the meeting should be a venue for fundraising or an open symposium. The next ASEPS meeting was announced to take place in Japan during the same period for which APPC12 would be scheduled.
APPC12 Status Report:
Tohru Motobayashi explained the current status of APPC12 that is under preparation. The details include that APPC12 will take place in Chiba, Japan from July 14 to 19, 2013. After forming a local organizing committee, an international organizing committee will be set up. AAPPS is expected to participate in the planning process of the APPC12's scientific programs.
AAPPS Bulletin Report:
Won Namkung informed that to date, three issues of AAPPS Bulletin have been published in a new format and distributed to the members. He reviewed each item of the Bulletin budget.
Shoji Nagamiya noted that the council should step up its efforts to create divisions within AAPPS. The division plan has been underway now. Youngah Park mentioned that she planned to ask each member society to create individual working groups on Women in Physics (WIP), condensed matter physics and quantum information. Shoji Nagamiya proposed a bylaw revision to facilitate division activities by making it simpler and more flexible
It was agreed that the next AAPPS Council Meeting would take place between June 14 and 17, 2012 in Singapore. The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m. in JST.
